000
WTPZ41 KNHC 272038
TCDEP1

Post-Tropical Cyclone Odalys Discussion Number 32
NWS National Hurricane Center Miami FL EP162026
200 PM PDT Sun Sep 27 2026

Odalys has lacked organized deep convection for about 12 hours, and
the system has been a swirl of low-level clouds all day. Therefore,
Odalys no longer meets the criteria of a tropical cyclone, and this
is the last advisory on this system. A recent ASCAT-B pass from a
few hours ago showed peak winds between 35 and 40 kt, and based on
that data, the initial wind speed is lowered to 40 kt.

Strong wind shear, dry air, and cool waters should cause continued
weakening while the system turns southward or south-southwestward
in the low-level flow. Dissipation is now shown by 72 hours, in
agreement with all of the global model guidance.

Distant moisture from both Odalys and Hurricane Polo will be
transported into the southwestern United States during the next few
days, and may indirectly contribute to a heavy rainfall and flash
flooding in the region. See products issued by the Weather
Prediction Center for more information.

FORECAST POSITIONS AND MAX WINDS

INIT 27/2100Z 22.8N 123.1W 40 KT 45 MPH...POST-TROPICAL
12H 28/0600Z 22.9N 122.9W 30 KT 35 MPH...POST-TROP/REMNT LOW
24H 28/1800Z 22.5N 122.5W 25 KT 30 MPH...POST-TROP/REMNT LOW
36H 29/0600Z 21.3N 122.6W 25 KT 30 MPH...POST-TROP/REMNT LOW
48H 29/1800Z 20.2N 122.9W 25 KT 30 MPH...POST-TROP/REMNT LOW
60H 30/0600Z 19.5N 123.3W 20 KT 25 MPH...POST-TROP/REMNT LOW
72H 30/1800Z...DISSIPATED

$$
Forecaster Cangialosi
